PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a fine plasma display of high luminous efficiency. SOLUTION: This plasma display, having a plasma display panel provided with at least plural discharge cells as a component, includes a discharge gas for forming a plasma in the discharge cells, and electron temperature Te is reduced by making the gas pressure of the discharge gas increase. Thus the fine plasma display of high luminous efficiency free from the abnormality in driving and the failure of the panel, even under the condition of counter-pressure can be realized.
