PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver in which character information attached to voice information can be acquired without performing troublesome operation at the time of channel selection. SOLUTION: When changing from a first broadcast channel to another broadcast channel, a control section 8 sets a new first broadcast channel. Voice information corresponding to the new first broadcast channel is received at a voice receiving section 1, and voice is outputted from a speaker 5 based on the voice information. Furthermore, the control section 8 acquires text information corresponding to the first broadcast channel from a data decoding section 7 and displays its content at a display section 10. After a specified time elapses, the control section 8 delivers a designation to a switching control section 6 and a acquires text information corresponding to the second broadcast channel from the data decoding section 7 and then displays its content at the display section 10.
