PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a transformer compact for reducing the masses of its windings, by lowering the conductor temperature on a central vertical duct side and reducing the number of coolers or the cross-sectional areas of conductors. SOLUTION: The transformer is made compact to increase the flowing amount of a coolant 11, by making a radial size L1 of the central vertical duct 9 broader than radial size L2 of inner and outer vertical ducts 8 and 9 and reducing the cross-sectional areas of conductors constituting disc windings and the masses of windings, by preventing the local heating of the disc windings on the central vertical duct 9 side.
