PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image of high quality by preventing a defective image at a transfer process, that is, the occurrence of defective transfer, a reversed ghost image, end-part staining. SOLUTION: A photoreceptor 1, an electrifying means 2, a developing means 4, a transfer roller 5 and a transfer power source 9 are constituted so as to satisfy conditions shown in the following expression. Vt *>100 (V)+It *.RR Provided that the intersections of V=VOff +Vth +I.(RW+RR) and the volt-ampere characteristics of the transfer power source 9 are expressed by Vt * and It *, (provided that VOff denotes an electrified surface potential, RW denotes the equivalent impedance of the photoreceptor 1 white part, RR denotes the resistance value of a transfer material and Vth , denotes a discharge start voltage.
