PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a cleaning member for cleaning an image carrier by abutting thereon, and capable of preventing an abnormal vibration caused between the cleaning member and the image carrier, by controlling the abutting state between the cleaning member and the image carrier. SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus having the image carrier and a cleaning blade abutting on the image carrier, an abutting part between the image carrier and the cleaning blade has a certain fixed distance.
