PURPOSE: A method for preventing illegal copy of an optical disk is provided to prevent data stored at the original disk from being reproduced, by recording predetermined error data at the original disk, thereby preventing illegal copy of an optical disk in advance. CONSTITUTION: A method for preventing illegal copy of an optical disk includes the steps of forming a non-reproducible area by inserting predetermined error data into sub-Q data, so that a servo rotates idle if a pickup is placed at the non-producible area, therefore, the unstable servo is unable to reproduce data; setting up virtual lead out time larger than whole time of the optical disk, so that a disk of standard capacity is unable to copy the original disk of large capacity.
