PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent noise discharged from an apparatus from becoming a distance to ears over a long period of time until the developer is consumed completely regardless of use state of the developer in the image forming apparatus of AC application contact-electrifying method. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, an image carrier 1, an electrifying device for electrifying the image carrier, an information writing device 3 for forming an electrostatic latent image on an electrified surface of the image carrier and a developing device 4 for visualizing the electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrier by the developer are provided. In the contact electrifying device, an electrifying member 2 is brought into contact with the image carrier 1 and the image carrier is electrified by having voltage containing at least AC component applied to the electrifying member 2 during image formation. The frequency of the AC component of the voltage applied to the electrifying member is varied according to the state of use of the developer. |
