A warning system for a vehicle (1) comprises a first separation sensor (2), for recording a region (3), whereby said region (3) at least partly lies within a blind angle. The warning system has means for determining a direction of movement of an object, for example a vehicle (4), relative to the vehicle (1) and means for generating a warning signal, depending on the direction of the movement of the object. The above permits irrelevant objects, for example vehicles in the oncoming traffic, to be blanked out, such that only relevant objects within the blind angle lead to the generation of a warning signal. A further separation sensor (5) for recording a region (6) in the front region of the vehicle (1) can also be applied for filtering out oncoming traffic. |
