<p>A method of controlling colours of an image in order to print the image is described and is directed towards the conversion of the colours of the image from a first, input colour space to a second, output colour space. The method comprises the steps of selecting (102) a first pixel (P1) of the image, determining the colour coordinates of the colour of the first pixel (P1) which are associated with components of a base of the first colour space, setting the components of the second colour space in dependence on the material on which the image is printed, determining (103) the colour coordinates of the colour of the first pixel (P1) which are associated with components of a base of the second colour space set, associating (105), with the first pixel, a monochrome pixel (PM) of a colour defined by the component of the base of the second space which has (104) the colour coordinate of the highest value in the first pixel (P1), repeating all of the preceding steps (102-105) for a plurality of pixels (7a) of the image so as to obtain a second image composed of the monochrome pixels (PM) in the second colour space.</p> |
