Assembly to determine the thickness of separated matter, deposited in a layer (4) on the inner surface of a container, has a striker (5) to develop mechanical pulses and vibrate the container. At least one receiver (6) on the outer surface of the container registers the vibrations, and converts them into electrical signals (7). An evaluation unit (8) assesses the vibrating behavior of the container and calculates the deposited layer thickness.
