This invention discloses a high pressure media mill (HPMM) and processes for use thereof: (a) adding grinding media and material to be milled to a high pressure media mill; (b) evacuating mill to produce a vaccum; (c) adding a supercritical fluid or volatile gas to said mill; (d) pressurizing and maintaining pressure in said mill; and (e) operating the mill so that product particles are reduced in size.
