A rear door for a vehicle with near upright rear profile has a tilt and slide mounting which slides the door into a storage position between the interior roof lining and the roof of the vehicle. The rear door can be a transparent panel and is supported on each side by slide and tilt mountings. The storage space can take either the full length of the door or part of the length. The top of the door opening is provided with a seal and the door tilts about a horizontal axis near to the top of the door opening.
