The present invention relates to closure elements for containers comprising a sealing element, the sealing element comprising a thermoplastic polymer and an effective absorbing amount of a cyclodextrin material; wherein the cyclodextrin material is selected from the group comprising .alpha.- cyclodextrin, .beta.-cyclodextrin, .gamma.-cyclodextrin, derivatives of .alpha.-cyclodextrin, .beta.-cyclodextrin and .gamma.-cyclodextrin and mixtures thereof. It has been found, that the sealing elements show excellen t barrier properties with respect to permeants, such as aromatic substances, especially trichloroanisole, aldehydes or ketones and/or impurities from the polymer. |
