An assembly (1) receives plastic sacks or bags (5) holding mixed refuse (6) and breaks these open prior to sorting and appropriate pre-disposal treatment of valuable residues (8). The assembly esp. incorporates two parallel conveyers (2; 17, 18) with a drive system (3) which oscillates the conveyers in two different planes (x, x'; y, y'). During this oscillation, the conveyers move in opposite directions, esp. one of which is parallel to the direction of conveyer movement.
