The cover strip (2) projects either side over the adhesive or sealing cord (3) by marginal overlaps (4) which form lugs (7) projecting transversely to the extension direction of the cord. The lugs are close together and are formed by cutting transverse incisions (6). The incisions are provided spaced out prior to winding up the cords.
