The invention relates to a method for integrating optical waveguides onto a substrate, in which at least one layer is produced on the substrate for guiding light. In said method, a substrate is prepared from an inorganic, preferably ceramic, material and at least one structured layer is formed on the substrate for production of an optical waveguide structure, by means of applying or printing at least one paste containing glass particles using a screen- or template-printing process.
