The method involves superimposing a menu controler onto an existing menu program of a data recording medium that at least partly deactivates the existing menu program and takes over the further control of reproduction, whereby the menu controler can be influenced by an external control program. The menu program is at least partly stored on the recording medium, e.g. a PC, and can be called up.
