In the event of an unacceptable increase in temperature in the region of the motive power unit, quenching fluid is applied to the inside of the engine housing (1). The quenching fluid comprises at least water in the form of a mist of small droplets. The quenching fluid may be under pressure and heated to more than 100 degrees C. An Independent claim is also included for a machine.
