A scanning head (6) arranged on an eddy current body (1) includes a magnet (2) for generating an external magnetic field (2a) perpendicular to a surface of the eddy current body (1). At least one detector coil (3) detects changes in an internal magnetic filed caused by eddy currents when the eddy current body is subjected to acceleration. The axes of the detector coils are perpendicular to the surface. The magnets and detector coils are arranged adjacently and alternately in the direction (X) of the acceleration to be measured.
