The method involves determining a first spectral coefficient using an already known history and at least one further coefficient from the set of coefficients. The coefficients associated with the (n-1)th time point, which is derived from a decoding process or/and an estimation process, are stored. The first coefficient for the nth time point is determined only from already known coefficients of the immediately preceding (n-1)th time point.
