PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium processing device allowing improvement of processing speed by unnecessitating useless carrying of the medium. SOLUTION: A bankbook processing device 1 is provided with a bankbook carrier passage 5 for carrying a bankbook 2 to be processed up to an information processing part by making one side end of the bankbook 2 as a carrier reference end 2d, a side edge truing-up mechanism 17 for drawing the bankbook 2 to the carrier reference surface 5d and a side edge truing-up detecting device SE4 for deciding drawing propriety of the bankbook 2 on the bankbook carrier passage 5. When an information processing to the bankbook 2 can be repeatedly executed, a drawing propriety decision is performed by the side edge truing-up detecting device SE 4 after the information processing is performed in an information processing part. When the side edge truing-up detecting device SE4 detects drawing good, the information processing is advanced to the next processing. When a drawing defective is detected, the side edge truing-up mechanism 17 is operated and the information processing is performed again after the drawing good is detected by the side edge truing-up detecting device SE4.
