PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cup holder for an automobile. SOLUTION: This cup holder is provided with a housing 1 fixed to the cabin side, a holder plate 11 having a holding hole 12 for a cup and supported in the housing, and a tray 21 rotatably journaled on the holder plate and supporting the bottom of the cup on the lower side of the holding hole. A storing part 13 is provided on this side of the holding hole of the holder plate. One of the holder plate and the tray is provided with a projecting part 25, and the other is provided with a recessed part 16 engaged with the projecting part, whereby the tray is locked in a non-using position by engagement of the projecting part and the recessed part. Thus, even if the holder plate is drawn out of the housing until it is regulated to use the storing part provided on this side of the holding hole of the holder plate, the tray is locked in the non-using position, so that in using the storing part, the tray is inhibited from being automatically turned by its dead load.
