PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid ink for ink jet recording which enables high-speed recording and/or high-density recording since it has a low melt viscosity and a high image strength; and an ink jet recording apparatus and method using the same. SOLUTION: This solid ink for ink jet recording at least comprises a colorant and a crystalline resin having an angular frequency of 1 red/sec, a storage moldulus GL (30) at 30 deg.C of 1×106 Pa or higher, and a loss modulus GN (30) at 30 deg.C of 1×106 Pa or higher. An ink jet recording apparatus and an ink jet recording method using the ink are also provided.
