PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently purifying a Dna A protein while holding its activity, a method for efficiently evaluating antibacterial activity by using an activity of a Dna A protein purified by the method as an indicator and a method for effectively screening a compound having an antibacterial activity. SOLUTION: A Dna A protein of Staphylococcus aureus is purified to a purity of >=90% from a crude extraction fraction by using an ATP bonding activity as an indicator. The purified Dna A protein exhibits a strong affinity to ATP. The use of the affinity between a purified Dna A protein and ATP enables efficient evaluation of an antibacterial activity and efficient screening of a compound having an antibacterial activity.
