PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly fluorinated carboxylic acid required for fluorous synthesis, material modification, etc., as an introducing agent for a highly fluorinated group and its derivative. SOLUTION: This highly fluorinated carboxylic acid is characterized in that the carboxylic acid is represented by formula [I] (wherein, Rf denotes a 5-10C perfluoroalkyl group; R denotes any of hydrogen, an alkyl group, an aralkyl group and an aryl group; X denotes carbonyl group or methylene group; l denotes an integer of 1-3: m denotes 2 or 3; n denotes 1 or 2: p denotes an integer of 0-4; and Rf, X, m, n and p need not be the same in each displayed site) and its derivative. The method for producing the highly fluorinated carboxylic acid and an intermediate therefor are provided.
