PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch from which the influence of atmospheric gas is removed. SOLUTION: The optical switch 10 is equipped with a bore 12 and a fluid reservoir 14 and the core 12 includes a base 18, a matrix controller substrate 20, and a plane light wave circuit 22; and the plane light wave circuit 22 includes a plurality of waveguides 24 and a plurality of trenches 28, which are arranged at the respective intersections of the waveguides 24. Then the fluid reservoir 14 supplies fluid 15 to the trenches 28 of the core 12. Further, an optical switch 10 includes a getter 30 for removing the atmospheric gas from the fluid 14. The getter can be a porous silica getter, a nonvolatile getter, or a volatile getter. |
