PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a pneumatic radial tire by which the shape change of a belt layer in a tire molding step is inhibited and it is possible to approximate the shape of a secondary green tire to the shape of a vulcanizing mold. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a pneumatic radial tire by which the diameter of a primary green tire T1 with a molded carcass 21 of a cylindrical shape is expanded, then a secondary green tire T2 is molded by contact-bonding and joining an annular belt layer 22 to the outer peripheral side of at least a carcass 21 and vulcanizing the secondary green tire T2 in the mold, the curvature radius Rt at the tread part of a carcass line in a meridian section during expanding the diameter of the primary green tire T1 is made larger than the curvature radius Rs at the side part.
