PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator which is equipped with an automatic ice machine capable of supplying timely ice, shorting the ice making time for making ice quickly, in case that the quantity of ice storage is small, and its control method. SOLUTION: A controller 16 constituted of a microcomputer, etc., provided in a refrigerator body receives the input of the signals from an ice making detection sensor 14b and ice detection lever 14d, and controls a blower 10 or a compressor 11, based on these input signals, and performs the high-speed revolutionary operation or continuous operation of the above blower 10 or the high frequency operation of the above compressor 11, by the input signals of the above ice making detection sensor 14b and the above ice detection lever 14d.
