PURPOSE: A device and a method for collecting an alarm of a data processing system are provided to shorten the access time for reading the alarm by reading only a group generating the alarm based on an alarm interrupt signal. CONSTITUTION: The alarm buffers(65,70,75) manage an alarm generating state by grouping the alarm generating state placed on an ISA(Industrial Standard Architecture) bus terminal by a specific bit. A comparing part(60) sets an alarm flag of the group generating the alarm by detecting the alarm generation through the comparison between an alarm bit received from the alarm buffer and an initial value. An FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)(50) sets an alarm flag register based on the alarm flag applied by the comparing part, sets the alarm bit of the comparing part to the initial value, and generates the alarm interrupt signal if only one bit among the forming bits of the alarm flag register is set. A CPU(10) reads the alarm flag register based on the alarm interrupt signal and reads the alarm data of the group generating the alarm by generating an address of a specific group set by the read alarm flag register.
