PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing unit capable of highly accurate positioning and proper processing by mounting an image photographing device at the most proper position for positional recognition and enabling positional recognition of an object to be processed and a processing part at the same time, and a processing method. SOLUTION: This processing device is provided with a stationary table 46 to fix a work 46c, a probe head 52 to apply a designated processing to the work 46c on the stationary table 46, and a CCD camera 12 to recognize the position of the work 46c and the probe head 52. The stationary table 46 is formed of a transparent body, and the CCD camera 12 is disposed in the lower part of the stationary table 46. An X-axially mobile mechanism 13 and a Y- axially mobile mechanism 14 to move the CCD camera 12 relatively to and from the stationary table 46 are provided.
