PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a threshold that can be easily made as good as a new one, even if damaged during construction work or worn after a long period of use, by replacing only its surface part. SOLUTION: The threshold comprises a base member 12 and a cover member 11 provided on the base member 12 and having a width equal to or greater than the width of the base member 12. The cover member 11 is longitudinally removably mounted on the base member 12 approximately along its overall length. A groove part 11a and a rail part 11e may be provided on the surface of the cover member 11. Alternatively, the cover member 11 may be provided with a door stop 11f and used as a door sill.
