PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a masking tape which is free from environmental pollution, with no problem due to chlorine compounds in e.g. incineration, and leaves no adhesive when peeled even after high-temperature baking. SOLUTION: This masking tape is made by forming a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on one side of a base material, wherein the base material comprises a polyolefin resin and wherein the pressure-sensitive adhesive forming the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer comprises a crosslinked copolymer consisting mainly of a 4-9C alkyl (meth)acrylate [preferably the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the homopolymer being -55 to -70 deg.C] and having an Mw (weight-average molecular weight) of 700,000 to 1,000,000, with a gel fraction of 70% or higher.
