FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: proposed indicator has light warning device made for step changing of optical characteristics in response to changes of temperature, with possibility of change over from blinking lighting at temperature rise to constant lighting at temperature drop. Under blinking lighting conditions, periodical lighting on-off time ratio can increase with increase in absolute value of temperature. Indicator is provided with device for changing and adjusting borders of normal temperature conditions defining upper and lower threshold values of said temperature. Warning device can be furnished with body for mounting on instrument panel, body being made with sizes and provided with fasteners corresponding to standard overheat or overcool warning device. Warning device can be made for fitting in housing of standard temperature indicator. EFFECT: improved conditions of operation of machines and mechanisms, increased service life, possibility of easy replacement of standard temperature indicator without modification of instrument panel. 13 cl
