PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is light is weight and provided with flexibility and a characteristic being hardly damaged and excellent in color reproducibility and in stability in the lapse of time for a reflective liquid crystal display device especially used as a portable device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal cell layer sandwiched between two substrates with electrodes, is characterized by having at least one substrate of the display surface side out of the two substrates constructed by a plastics substrate with optical anisotropy.
