PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an electronic image pickup device thoroughly thin by mounting a zoom lens which has thin thickness of a collapsible barrel, superior storability, high power, and superior image forming performance even if rear- focus images. SOLUTION: The electronic image pickup device has an image formation optical system comprising the zoom lens which is composed of a 1st group G1 with negative refracting power, a 2nd group G2 with positive refracting power, a 3rd group G3 with positive refracting power, and a 4th group G4 and put in focus on a short-distance subject by the extension of the 3rd group G3 toward the object and includes the 4th group formed of one position-fixed lens having an aspheric surface and an imaging device which is arranged on the image side of the image formation optical system.
