PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING NORBORNENE RESIN MOLDED PART AND SYNTHETIC TIMBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly productive process for safely manufacturing a norbornene resin molded part which has a woody appearance and may be processed, e.g. cut, sectioned, etc., like timber. SOLUTION: In a process for manufacturing a norbornene resin molded part, a norbornene monomer is bulk polymerized using a metathesis catalyst in the presence of wood chips having a water content of 0.5 to 20%. A synthetic timber is manufactured through this process.
