PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain EGR gas in an exhaust passage 40 from leaking out to an intake air passage 41 when closing an EGR valve 10. SOLUTION: A passage wall surface 49 for forming the exhaust passage 40 formed in a housing 5 of the EGR valve 10 retreats up to a position of an inner wall surface of a lid-like plate 48 so that a first valve seat part 11 and the passage wall surface 49 of the housing 5 are separated each other by a prescribed value (for example, 15 mm) or more. Thus, since the first valve seat part 11 and the passage wall surface 49 of the housing 5 are separated, a deposit quantity accumulated in a first valve seat part 11 of the passage wall surface 49 side of the housing 5 is reduced to thereby reduce the possibility of forming clearance between the first valve seat part 11 and a first valve element 1 when closing the EGR valve 10, so that a valve leakage quantity is reduced without leaking out the EGR gas in the exhaust passage 40 to the intake air passage 41.
