PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for inspecting a display screen which rapidly and accurately detects a defective pixel with a low cost and simple constitution and can specify its coordinates. SOLUTION: The apparatus for inspecting the display screen captures the defective pixel in the display screen for displaying each display pixel corresponding to each display element disposed in a matrix-like state in a visual field of an imaging means and specifies the coordinates of the defective pixel. The apparatus comprises the imaging means, divided screen display means for individually displaying the respective divided screens by dividing the display screen into a plurality, a schematic coordinate range detecting means for judging the divided screen duplicated with the visual field of the imaging means which captures the defective pixel based on the individual displays and detecting the coordinate ranges of the divided screen as the schematic coordinate range, and a defective pixel coordinate specifying means for specifying the coordinates of the defective pixel by retrieving the defective pixel in the visual field of the imaging means by scanning the display pixel in the schematic coordinate range in each direction of two-dimensional coordinates of the matrix and displaying the display pixel. |
