PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery having high capacity and excellent conservation property. SOLUTION: In the battery 1, a positive electrode 3 formed by pelletizing mixed powder containing at least a positive electrode active material and graphite powder into a hollow cylindrical shape is arranged in the outer circumferential part. A negative electrode 5 containing at least zinc, which is a negative electrode active material, and an electrolyte, is arranged in the center part. The positive electrode active material is beta-type nickel oxy hydroxide, on which a coating film layer is formed, and gamma type nickel oxy hedroxide is contained in the coating film layer. The content of cobalt is 1-5 mass% to the mass of beta type nickel oxy hydroxide on which the coating film layer is formed. The coating film layer contains Zn. The content of Zinc is 0.5-1 mass% to the mass of beta type nickel oxy hydroxide on which the coating film layer is formed. The shape of the particle of beta type nickel oxy hydroxide on which the coating film layer is formed is nearly spherical. |
