PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a heat treating roll having large rigidity and superior heat transmission efficiency. SOLUTION: This heat treating roll comprises a roll body 11 formed by calculating intervals of circular through holes to the distance from the cylindrical surface so as to improve the heat transmission efficiency to the cylindrical surface to the maximum and reduce the temperature irregularity in the circumferential direction to the minimum, when refrigerant or heating medium is made to pass through the multiple circular through holes bored in the direction of a roll shaft at prescribed pitches closely on the same radius close to the cylindrical surface, a pair of side plates 12 and 13 centered and fixed to the both-side end faces of the roll body 11 and having a radial heat medium passage communicated with the multiple circumferential through holes in the cylindrical surface of the roll body, and a pair of rotation supporting shafts integrally fixed with the side plates 12 and 13 and extending on the same central line in the both sides of a cooling roll 2 which has the heat medium passage communicated with the radial heat medium passage in the side plate, in the axial center. |
