PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding device with a sliding surface having deposited hard carbon film and the low coefficient of friction in a dry atmosphere while maintaining excellent wear resistance of a DLC film. SOLUTION: In this sliding device, a carbon nitride film is deposited on a sliding surface of at least one of two members sliding facing each other, and a sliding part with the sliding surfaces sliding on each other is substantially in a gaseous nitrogen atmosphere.
