<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber insertion method and an apparatus therefor for inserting an optical fiber into a feed through part and a tail cable with stable tensile force to assemble a submarine repeater without giving any damage to the optical fiber. SOLUTION: When a fiber guide structure 14 in which a plurality of optical fibers 3 are sealed is inserted into the feed through part 13 and the tail cable 15 of an end surface board 12 which are held by a maintenance holder 30a by pulling a leading thread 21 connected to the bundling part 20 of the optical fibers 3, the leading thread 21 is rolled up with a takeup means 43. While adjusting the tension of the leading thread by controlling the torque of the takeup means 43, a fixture 31a to which a fiber guide structure 14 is fixed is pulled in the opposite direction with a pulling thread 41 wound around a back pulling means 40. At this time, the torque of the back pulling means 40 is controlled so that the tension of the pulling thread 41 is kept smaller than the tension of the leading thread 21.</p> |
