PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of attaching and detaching a rubber crawler, capable of easily attaching and detaching a rubber crawler to and from a side frame without trouble, and having no fear of damaging the rubber crawler, and a tool for the method. SOLUTION: The side frame 2 to which the rubber crawler 9 is fitted is floated. Simultaneously, a driven wheel 6 is moved toward a driving sprocket 3 to shorten the distance from the driven wheel 6 and the driving sprocket 3. The tool 20 is fitted to the driven wheel 6 side of the rubber crawler 9. The tool 2 fitted to the rubber crawler 9 and an attachment for work are connected by a connecting member 35. With the driven wheel 6 side of the rubber crawler 9 lifted through the connecting member 35 by the attachment for work, a turning device 10 is operated to hook the rubber crawler 9 on the driven wheel 6 side or detach the same from the driven wheel 6 side.
