Novel piperidine and tetrahydropyridine derivatives of the formula where Z is -CH 2 -CH 2 - or -CH = CH-, R 1 is an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl benzyl or phenethyl radical or anα-naphthyl or furfuryl radical, and X is hydrogen, methyl or a radical-COR, which latter can be COOC 2 HS, a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic acid residue with a straight or branched chain containing up to 6 carbon atoms, a saturated or unsaturated aryl-aliphatic acid residue with a straight or branched aliphatic chain containing up to 4 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic acid residue, or a phenoxy acetic acid residue which may be substituted in its benzene ring, and the therapeutically usable acid addition salts thereof with inorganic acids are prepared either by reacting #-(1,2,3,6- tetrahydro - 2,2,6,6, - tetramethyl - pyridyl - 1) - ethyl chloride hydrochloride, obtained by treating 1 - (# - hydroxyethyl) - 1,2,3,6 - tetrahydio - 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-pyridine with thionyl chloride, or 2 - (2<SP>1</SP>,2<SP>1</SP>,6<SP>1</SP>,6<SP>1</SP>, - tetramethyl-piperid- 1<SP>1</SP> - yl) - ethyl chloride-hydrochloride with an amine of the formula R 1 N(X)H or by reacting a compound of the above general formula in which X is hydrogen with an acid chloride of the formula RCOCI, COR having the meaning already given. Therapeutic compositions, having analgesic and tranquillizing activity and a convulsivant action, contain at least one of the above novel compounds and a carrier Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 834,290.</p> |
