PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stainless steel for a support frame of a cathode-ray tube for a personal computer or a television set, which has excellent machinability and excellent strength in temperature range of 500 deg.C. SOLUTION: The stainless steel for the support frame of the cathode-ray tube having excellent machinability and strength at the medium temperature is obtained by adding 0.05 to 0.3% Sn, by mass, to an alloy containing <=0.10% C and 10 to 15% Cr, and the balance Fe with impurities.
