PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a braking mechanism of a rotary assist grip. SOLUTION: A holder having a return spring 8 is fitted to one end of a grip body 2, and the braking mechanism S for applying braking force when the grip body 2 is returned from the working position to the storing position by the spring force of the return spring 8 is assembled to the other end part. The braking mechanism S is constituted by a movable member 31 fixed to the grip body 2 side and a fixed member 30 fitted to the holder 3 side. Both members 30, 31 are provided with a plurality of friction plates 33 abutting on each other in assembling each other, whereby when the grip body 2 is turned from the working position to the storing position, the friction plates 33 rub each other to apply braking force to the turning of the grip body 2.
