PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize cargo handling work by lowering a center-of-gravity position even if a portal frame is high according to a request for a multistory stack of transported containers, in a straddle carrier. SOLUTION: An engine 8 and an HST hydraulic pump 9 connected thereto are arranged on one substructure 4, and hydraulic motors 11 and driving wheels 6 driven thereby are arranged on both left and right substructures 4. The HST hydraulic pump 9 and the hydraulic motors 11 are connected by lines 12 and 13 via a branch line 10, and one line 13 branched at the branch line 10 is closely fixed on a left and a right beam 3 and a superstructure 2 to form a portal pipe arrangement. The intensive arrangement of the engine 8, the hydraulic pump 9 and the like on the substructures 4 can lower the center-of-gravity position of the straddle carrier, and drive of each hydraulic motor in parallel connection dispenses with a differential controller.
