PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional printer arranged to start in response to a print instruction from a host computer that power is turned on apparently only when a print instruction is transmitted from a host computer but, in fact, power is supplied to the logical circuit of the printer at all times. SOLUTION: In a print system comprising a host computer 10 and a printer 1, the host computer 10 is arranged to transmit a turn-on power signal to the printer 1 through a turn-on power signal line 9. The printer 1 comprises a power supply signal processing section 8 for detecting the turn-on power signal, and a power supply control circuit 4. When the power supply signal processing section 8 detects the signal, the power supply control circuit 4 automatically turns on power of a print control circuit 3 or a drive mechanism section 2.
