In sterilization of fresh or industrial-quality water used in a program-controlled automatic washer for chemothermal disinfection of medical instruments, e.g. endoscopes etc., which is fed to the pre-rinse, cleaning, intermediate rinse/instrument disinfection or final rinse stage, optionally via a softener, by irradiation with ultraviolet (UV) light to avoid recontamination in the final rinse, a peroxide-based disinfectant is added before irradiation to enhance photo-oxidation. |
