CURABLE RESIN COMPOSITION FOR COATING MATERIAL AND COATED ITEM OBTAINED BY COATING WITH THE COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alcoholic-hydroxyl-group-containing curable resin composition for a coating material which can be suitably dissolved in a solvent substantially containing no aromatic component; and a coating film formed by using the composition. SOLUTION: This curable resin composition for a coating material comprises (A) a vinyl copolymer which has a main chain substantially comprising a vinyl polymer, has one or more alcoholic hydroxyl groups at the end of the main chain and/or on a side chain, and contains, based on the total monomer units, at least 30 wt.% units derived from a branched alkyl (meth)acrylate having a 4C or higher alkyl group and/or an alkyl (meth)acrylate having an 8C or higher alkyl group and (B) a solvent substantially containing no aromatic component. Since a vinyl polymer is used, the resin composition has a sufficient solvent solubility. A coating film having good characteristics can be formed by using the resin composition.
